Terminator 2 - Judgment Day has stood the test of time as one of the most fun science fiction/action movies to come out. The movie takes a premise that is so simple, yet so complex, and blends it with some amazing cinematography. The acting is a little campy at some points, but it only serves to add to the charm of the movie.

This movie pits the ragtag group of John Conner, Sarah Conner, and the Terminator against a much more futuristic Terminator known as the T-1000. The T-1000 is a nearly indestructible robot from further into the future than the original Terminator.

The heroes in the story are trying to stop a global Armageddon that is going to have the machines taking over the world. There is a thought that occurs to Sarah about halfway through the movie that she is going to be able to stop this impending doom of the human race. We find out in the next movie that, though they seem to succeed in this movie, they only managed to move the date back of this take over.

There is a lot about fate in this movie. Fate and destiny are recurring themes throughout the series. Strangely, there is a lot about changing fate, changing the future. There is a little bit of a modern political argument that can be seen here. Environmentalists say that humans are destroying the planet with pollution, but that we can still change the future and save the planet. This argument may or may not hold water, but what is safe to say is that it is a big topic, and this movie was on top of it a long time before it came into the mainstream of politics.

There are other issues at play here as well. Sarah Conner is in a mental institute at the beginning of the movie. This could be seen as a sort of discussion on the state of mental health care in America. Though her story does seem very crazy, and she has become quite a violent woman, she actually isn't crazy. The audience knows that.

Everyone treats her like she is nuts. The filmmakers may be trying to say that this is part of the problem with our system. If someone says something that seems outlandish, it must be mental illness. Granted what she was saying did seem very crazy, and maybe they were trying to point out how hard it was to be Sarah Conner and not really saying anything bad about our health care system, but it seems fair that it could be saying something about both.

John Conner is supposed to be the great savior of mankind when he grows up. Yet at the time of this movie he is just a kid who has had a bizarre upbringing and is starting to get into a life of crime (stealing from ATM machines). John doesn't actually know that what his mom has told him is true anymore than the mental health professionals think its true.

The strange thing about Terminator 2 - Judgment Day is that if we take the time-traveling robots out of the equation, then we see a completely different story. Without them showing up, John is being raised by a series of foster parents and a crazy woman. He is being told crazy things that really don't make a lot of sense. And it's all coming from the mind of a very seriously mentally ill woman. He works at his father's pizza place, delivering pies on foot and deals with his rival, Sho'Nuff, the Shogun of Harlem... Yep. Sho'Nuff... The Shogun of Harlem. This incredibly goofy martial arts tale takes place on the real streets of modern day Harlem and creates a really quirky, one of a kind movie.

Sho'Nuff is really one of the all time great screen villains. Everything about him is just... Wild, ridiculous and hilarious. He walks around with a crew of lackeys, and wherever he enters the scene, he's preceded by a little call-and-response speech between himself and his crew, as if they were the mirror on the wall, he asks them if he is the prettiest, the meanest and the baddest, and Sho Nuff, he is. He wears shoulder pads, visor sunglasses and hakama, those baggy pants worn by samurai. For style and attitude, he's really one of the funniest heavies of all time.

The only downside to the movie is the comparatively less interesting subplot revolving around a really, really awful Cyndi Lauper style singer and her manager/boyfriend who's trying to get her some airtime on a local music show, produced and hosted by Bruce Leroy's would-be-lover. This subplot isn't the most interesting part of the film, but fortunately it's not a main focus.

But regardless, it is funny, and it does pay off with a big brawl scene at the end when he hires all the meanest guys in the city to attack Bruce Leroy and his students. The end result is a really great rumble scene with Leroy taking on a few dozen hilarious, wild characters before finally beating Sho'Nuff and attaining "The Glow" which is what you call it when they draw a halo of light around your body frame by frame.

There are also some really fun, corny moments along the way. At one point, Leroy tries to seek wisdom from the guy who writes the fortune cookies at the local Chinese restaurant, only to find that they're written by a computer. Therein he finds that zen wisdom of emptiness and being.

Perhaps the movie might have been better without the relatively uninteresting subplot. After all, you just came for the kung fu, right? But nevertheless, it still remains a classic of its genre, and one of the few films to successfully spoof kung fu movies and honor them at the same time. It's really a lot of fun, with just enough corny eighties style goofiness to make it one of the all time classic eighties comedies.

The heart, soul and body of the movie is Mickey Rourke's performance as Randy The Ram Robinson. Well, his real name is Robin Ramzinski. He was a huge star in the hair metal eighties days of wrestling, but has since faded into obscurity. Now he wrestles on the weekends, but it doesn't quite pay the bills, and he has to supplement that by putting in hours at the local grocery store.

Randy has lived a self destructive lifestyle, and he's paying the price for it. He's lost touch with his family, and while there's a real bond between him and the boys in the locker room, he doesn't really have anyone that's truly close to him. So the movie follows him as he attempts to make a comeback and reunite with his daughter.

The movie will rip your heart out, showing Randy as he is in a light that it as once both humane, and unforgiving. He's not given a pass for the mistakes he's made, but he's shown as a real human being, whose feelings are valid. He's made mistakes, but that doesn't make him a monster, and he's shown in a loving light, if not an always flattering one.

Again, it's all about Mickey Rourke here. The story of the Wrestler is as much his as it is Randy's. Rourke himself has made a few mistakes, and just like Randy, was on the comeback trail. So the result is that he doesn't just play this role, he lived it. Interestingly, the role was going to go to Nicholas Cage, but Cage dropped out so that Rourke could take it.

Without Cage, they had to settle on a smaller budget, but the end result is a much smaller, more intimate film. Rourke wrestles for crowds of maybe a hundred people at a time, giving his all to each and every performance and bleeding it out for the fans.

It's an old story with a lot of stock characters, but somehow, it never feels cliche or predictable. The movie is all heart, treating its characters with real love, respect and affection. As a result, it's one of the best movies of the last decade, and probably the best performance of Rourke's career. Even if you weren't too impressed with Requiem for a Dream or Pi, this movie is well beyond anything you might have thought director Darren Aronofsky to have been capable of.

Once the movie's over and the acoustic song from Bruce Springsteen kicks in, take a moment to reflect on the story and what the ending really means. Rarely can a movie delve so deeply into issues of self destruction and loss and come out with a more positive and upbeat ending... Without really being tidy or saccharine sweet. It's not his fault, it's just that these are the dull projects they give him to work with. So what is one of his movies doing on a review labeled "must see movie downloads"?

This movie came after Boaz Yakin's self imposed exile. At a certain point, he became disillusioned with the film industry and declared that he would be taking a hiatus from writing, at least until he felt he had something important to say. The result was a movie that truly does make a powerful statement.

The movie is named for the titular hero, Fresh, a young boy who works as a drug mule for various dealers around town. Two of which are at war with one another. So how does he keep his head above water when he would certainly be killed if one boss found out about the other? Well the twenty to fifty dollars he makes per run, he hides it in a coffee can by the railroad tracks and... After a couple years of running drugs every day for twenty to fifty bucks a run... That adds up, and the things you can do with that money if you're smart...

Each week, Fresh spends one afternoon playing chess with his father who offers him guidance and a moment to reflect upon what's going on in his life. These are sort of the Greek chorus scenes of the film, allowing both Fresh and the audience to consider what has happened before and where the movie is going to go from here. The chess also serves as a metaphor for what Fresh is doing while on the clock.

The movie is sort of like Fistful of Dollars as a hood story. Two of Fresh's friends are killed by one of the dealers he works for, and he takes it upon himself to exact an incredible revenge plan that gives you one surprise after another. Fresh is a young man of incredible intelligence, and his scheme is one of the all time greatest plots in film history.

The plan is complex, but easy to understand after you see the whole thing play out. Fresh's ingenuity is incredible, the way he plays one side against the other, all the while avoiding suspicion simply by virtue of being a child. They never suspect that they've been outwitted by a ten year old. So the question is how long he can keep the facade going, how long it takes to make everything work and free himself of these scumbag's control over his life once and for all.

The tightrope he walks to work the scheme is suspenseful, dangerous, frightening, knowing that at any moment, they could catch on to him and put him under the ground.

The film is truly one of a kind. Clockers runs in a somewhat similar vein, but Fresh is built around a truly unique concept. The movie takes a young child, around ten years old, and pits him against ruthless, violent, sociopath criminals. It's not a children's movie, even though the hero is a child. It is a film about the power of morality and righteousness over compromised morality and cruelty, and truly a fascinating thriller. - 40724

Wall-E feels attraction towards Eve, which is why he takes the long journey back to the future with her. Eve does not know the small robot came along.

When wall-e arrives to the distant future, he is preoccupied with Eve, whom he first left for. But, things start to uncover. Believe it or not, you can find people from the audience that can take note of your antics in hopes of using them. Keep an eye out for people like that when you are performing.

Don't overdo a joke. Execute it within the suitable time frame. It can get old and stale if you ever keep going on with it and the crowd get irritated.

Don't bash fellow stand-up comedians. Keep your viewpoints for yourself. When you have anything to talk about, let them ask you. If they don't, then don't push the problem. This will not get you any appreciation from your friends.

Becoming offensive is a no-no. You happen to be there to get them to have fun. They don't want to hear about stuff that are vile and make them disappointed.

Communicate yourself in a way that people could enjoy it. You need to be yourself when you do it.

Never talk so loud which you could break the eardrums of the people in the audience. Keep your volume to a sufficient level. Tone your voice down and change the microphone if you have to.

It weighs more on an audience on how they receive your performance rather than focusing on you. You are there to have them laugh. If you're not delivering, they will not laugh at your jokes. You're there to entertain them, not to amuse yourself.

Always be pleasant from start to finish and never offend others, particularly your fellow stand-up comedians. You will never know when you'll need a favor from them one day. If you have more opponents compared to friends, you'll probably be all messed up. Nobody would like to do anything for you.

Don't be conceited given that you have a few gigs under your belt. There are people out there who are professionals that have learned to carry themselves accordingly. They understand that if they don't then they could be out of a job. Acting stuck up will force anyone to put you back in your place from where you started.

Don't make fun of other people. Don't hurt their feelings deliberately. You are there to perform, not to make fun of anyone. People in the audience will take offense to that and walk out. Your fan base may start to decrease.

Once you perform, do not push yourself to manufacture a joke when you have no idea whether or not it's going to be funny or not. Stay with your typical stream and perform the way you normally do. If you have to, produce some new material days before you are on to perform again.

You need to project a perception that's positively portraying you as a stand-up comedian. You want your audience to be aware that you're warm and friendly and are looking to make them have fun when you are performing.

Don't do anything whatsoever that will turn your audience off from you.

It's actually ok to be clean cut so that your audience will know you are funny, yet sincere with regards to your craft.

Don't go overboard when you're performing and telling jokes. Although free speech is out there, occasionally we need to be mindful as not to upset others.

Come up with your own jokes so that people will get the jest of what you're talking about. You don't like them leaving the place shaking their heads in surprise.

In case you perform one-liners, make sure that these are high quality ones. Not every stand-up comedian will be able to try this, but if you can, more power to you. They could be your ram in the bush when you really need additional material to perform. Be careful regarding the subject matter where you use the one-liners.

Doing tale jokes demand stand-up comedians to become genuine about the subject matter or at least do it like it could be the real deal. It's not necessary to make up or lie regarding what you are talking about.

Eventually he must come to terms with his own humanity or lack thereof. Throughout the previous film, the first Mad Max, Max lost touch with his own humanity in the pursuit of vengeance. Now he must reaffirm himself as human, as a member of society, or... What's left of it, anyways.

The movie is, really, one big chase scene. It stops here and there just long enough for the viewer to catch his or her breath. A lesser movie might have grown boring with this structure, having sacrificed story and character for chase scenes. However, The Road Warrior uses action to tell the story, to develop character. This is how the old westerns did it, and it's too bad that this structure isn't really used anymore.

The movie really comes down to the nature of heroism and righteousness. George Miller, the film's director, went into the Joseph Campbell mythology to develop the story for the film, and it paid off. The movie feels timeless, an instant classic. It will inspire you, and there's a reason that many Australians consider it to be "their Star Wars".

The movie is really a western and deserves to be classified alongside films like Stagecoach and The War Wagon as one of the all time great action packed adventure films.

The movie is loud, fast and aggressive, full of insane characters and crazy stunts (several stuntmen almost died, in fact). It may well be one of the greatest films ever made for storytelling and craftsmanship, and if not, it's certainly one of the all time great action films, and certainly worth a watch whether or not you're usually an action fan. Volume is one more issue that can interfere with your capacity to stay on pitch. If the guitar and piano are too calm, or if the bass or electric instruments are very loud, you might have trouble hitting the right notes.

Have you ever wanted to perform a favorite song, but you just couldn't get your voice high or low good enough? Every song is written in a specific key. If your vocal range doesn't complement that key, you'll need to set the song into a key you can simply sing.

However the song itself isn't just a consideration when you're figuring out which key to sing in. Here is a guideline to find the right key for any song, despite of your vocal scale:

Step 1: Find Your Vocal Range

The first move to find the right key to sing in is to find your natural vocal scale. With the help of a piano or guitar, pick out notes on the C chromatic scale, beginning with middle C.

Go up the range, pairing your voice to every note as you play. Look for the highest note you can easily sing. That is the top of your normal range. Then return to middle C and drop to the lowest note you can comfortably sing. That is the bottom of your normal scale.

When you get near the top of your range, you will naturally turn from your chest voice (which is deep and strong, like a speaking voice) to your head voice (which is light and airy, but nevertheless engages the vocal chords).

With exercise, you can deliver your head voice better control and quality. Don't go too far up the range after you switch to your head voice; you are searching for the notes you can comfortably sing, not the highest note you can screech out.

Most women tend to be altos or tenors, with lower number being sopranos. Nearly all men tend to be tenors or baritones, with a smaller number being basses.

Step 2: Find the Song's Range

The next step is to analyze the range of your chosen song. Pay attention to the highest notes that the song, as written, requires you to sing. Then find the lowest notes. If these notes fall within your range, or very close, you might sing the song in its original key.

If the song has a far broader scale than your natural one, you may possibly need to try it in a different key. You can sing a high song in a lower key to ensure you hit all the notes, or you can merely drop the high notes down an octave to make them simpler to sing.

Step 3: Contemplate the Genre, Volume, and Venue

Some keys are more appropriate to certain musical genres because of the musical style and the volume of the additional instruments.

For example, a song sung in a lower key could possibly work well for a jazz gig in a restaurant setting. The soft music would provide a smooth backdrop that did not compete with the singer's vocals.
